Welcome from the Principal and Executive Principal
Welcome to Rivers Academy!
Rivers Academy West London has the highest aspirations for every student and provides exceptional education and pastoral care for each individual. As a result, children perform tremendously well in external examinations in both Year 11 and Year 13.
Each member of our highly skilled and professional teaching and support staff is passionate about ensuring students enjoy the very best opportunities in their future lives. We equip students with the qualifications, qualities and skills to reach their personal ambitions.
Students achieve the very best qualifications at Rivers Academy. In 2016, we were delighted to see 62% of Year 11 students achieve A*- C grades in GCSE English and maths and 28% of students achieve the prestigious EBacc. A phenomenal 61% of A Level entries were graded at A*- B and 42% of students achieved three or more A levels or equivalent at A* - B with 97% of students achieving at least 3 A Levels or equivalent in 2016. This is an incredible period in our history as results continue to improve every year.
We were delighted to have our thriving Academy recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted in 2015, please click here to view the full report. This judgement is testament to the exceptional learning and achievement that takes place in Rivers Academy every day. We are particularly proud that Ofsted refers to Rivers students as “extremely polite and courteous” whose behaviour is “exemplary”. Ofsted recognises that at Rivers Academy “Teachers know their students well. They carefully plan lessons to ensure all students make excellent progress. They mark students’ work regularly and check carefully that their comments have been acted upon. Therefore, students make outstanding progress.”
Every student in our community shares a collective responsibility to contribute positively to the learning environment for themselves and for others.
At Rivers Academy, we have the very highest expectations for effort, behaviour and uniform. Our firm and consistent emphasis on good behaviour, both inside and outside of lessons, ensures that our Academy is calm, purposeful and orderly, where every child can achieve.
Students and staff demonstrate an enormous pride in Rivers Academy. We are a happy Academy, focused on supporting and challenging each other to achieve our full potential. As a result of outstanding teaching, an engaging curriculum, personalised pastoral care, and excellent extra-curricular opportunities, Rivers students are better qualified, more confident and articulate than ever before. This is crucial as the competition for Post 16 courses, apprenticeships, jobs and university places intensifies annually.
Staff enjoy knowing that each student leaves us well prepared for successful future careers with excellent qualifications, high levels of self-esteem, confidence and the skills necessary to thrive in a very competitive world.
Our prospectus, which can be viewed here, provides a glimpse of life at our vibrant Academy. I would strongly encourage you to visit us. We would be delighted to welcome you and have a variety of events designed with this in mind, dates of which can be found on our website.
