Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a nationally recognised award for young people that helps develop their citizenship skills. Our first cohort took part in 2022/23 and benefited enormously from the experience.

It allows young people to discover new interests, develop essential skills for their future and receive an internationally recognised Award, whilst also supporting Rivers Academy guiding principles of engagement, self-worth and purpose. The DofE Award is non-competitive where the main aim is for students to set their own challenges for personal growth and push their limits to be the best versions of themselves.

To achieve their Bronze Award, participants must complete four sections: Skills, Volunteering, Physical and their Expedition. Every young person’s DofE programme is personal to them – they can choose what they would like to do for their Skills, Volunteering and Physical sections, and most activities can count. We will provide guidance and support, and students can either choose to continue an activity they already do or discover something completely new.

This year we will be opening up to all students in year 9 and 10. If your son/daughter is in one of these year groups and would like to be involved, please contact The Duke of Edinburgh lead, Ellen Millar: emillar@rivers-aspirations.org
