SMSC at Rivers Academy
Children have a right to be happy, succeed and achieve and be healthy. We have a duty as teachers to make this happen. At Rivers Academy we value the importance of teaching SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and cultural development) through an engaging, broad and relevant curriculum. SMSC is at the heart of the Aspirations framework. When students have the 3 ingredients of high self worth, active engagement in lessons and are working towards future goals with purpose they will be receiving excellent SMSC.
What is SMSC?
Spiritual – Development in this area is the act of bringing meaning to life
Moral – Development in this area is the act of taking action to be a good citizen
Social – Development in this area is the act of being able to interact successfully in society and with peers
Cultural – Development in this area is the act of feeling like you belong in society
